SOCIAL ACTIVITIES
Social activities are a vital part of our branch. The main purpose of them is so that members have a good time and build friendships with people they may otherwise not come into contact with. They also help raise money for the club although this is a secondary benefit. Most of the social events are held at our
CLUBHOUSE so there is no cost involved for the hire of a hall and we also make profit over the bar. We do also have events at other locations, most notably the Dinner Dance which we hold at a local hotel.
The Dinner Dance is the highlight of the social calendar and is a black-tie affair usually attended by around 100 people. It is held in November and is little more than an opportunity to put on your best clothes and then throw food at one another.
Surprisingly we have not yet been barred from any of the establishments who have hosted this event, probably because of the amount of money we put behind the bar!
We also have other social events throughout the year. In the last couple of years we have
also arranged a burger bar at the Maidstone River Festival - A great success even though it is tremendously hard work (but fun).
There are usually a couple of Wine and Wisdom Quiz evenings a year
under the control of Gruppenfuerer Dave Green and ObberLietnentt Ian
Malholme . The winners of the last quiz were the Chairman's
Cronies!....Can they be deposed this year? The
next event is soon.
THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO HAS ORGANISED
EVENTS - YOUR CONTRIBUTION IS VERY MUCH APPRECIATED.
